On 06/18/2021, Hawaii police responded to a reported break in at a residence on Kilauea Road in Hilo. Officers entered the home and located Daniel Buckingham inside a bedroom. Police reported that Buckingham was holding two knives during the encounter. Officers engaged Buckingham, and one officer sustained an arm injury during the interaction.
