On 06/19/2021, Bonner Springs police attempted a traffic stop on Interstate 70 after observing a vehicle with an expired license plate. The driver, Darrell Vincent, did not stop. Police escalated a chase along I-70. During the pursuit, officers deployed a PIT maneuver to disable Vincent’s vehicle. The maneuver caused the vehicle to overturn. Vincent was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 57 years old. Reporting did not indicate that Vincent was armed.
