On 06/30/2021, Calhoun County sheriff’s deputies went to a residence on Burke Road in St. Matthews to serve an arrest warrant for John Hayden Inabinet. Reporting stated that earlier, Inabinet had fired shots during a dispute involving his son, who had attempted to retrieve personal belongings from the property. Authorities reported that Inabinet made statements indicating he was heavily armed and would not allow anyone onto the property. When deputies arrived to execute the warrant, police stated that Inabinet raised a pistol toward them. A deputy opened fire and shot Inabinet, killing him at the scene. Inabinet was 51 years old.
