On 07/16/2021, Dawn Marie Simpson was shot and killed by officers with the Nampa Police Department in Nampa, Idaho. Police responded to a report of trespassing and located Simpson sitting in a vehicle in a residential driveway on West Mulberry Loop. Officers ordered her to exit the vehicle. Simpson drove away, striking a police vehicle. Officers pursued her and stopped her a short distance away. Police reported that during the encounter, Simpson pointed a firearm toward officers and fired. Officers opened fire, striking Simpson. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An internal investigation later determined the shooting was justified. No officers were charged.
