On 07/20/2021, Miguel F. Hernandez-Rodriguez was shot and killed by officers with the Phoenix Police Department in Phoenix, Arizona. Police responded to reports of a domestic violence incident at an apartment complex. A caller reported that her husband had struck her and was armed with a knife and that her children remained inside the apartment. Officers arrived and spoke with the woman outside. Hernandez-Rodriguez then exited the apartment holding a knife as an officer approached. Police reported that he continued moving toward officers while holding the knife. An officer opened fire, striking Hernandez-Rodriguez. He died at the scene.
