OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/09/2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., El Mirage police responded to a domestic disturbance involving a man reportedly threatening family members with a handgun at a residence in the 13000 block of West Crocus Drive. When officers arrived, 21-year-old Antonio Sanchez fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood while armed. Officers established a perimeter and attempted to locate him.
Officers eventually encountered Sanchez in a residential area. Police reported that Sanchez pointed a handgun at the officers during the confrontation. Officers fired their service weapons, striking Sanchez. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators recovered a handgun from the location of the shooting. The West Valley Incident Response Team conducted the criminal investigation.
