OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 08/10/2021, North Aurora police responded around 9:30 p.m. to a call from James Robert Wiesner Sr.’s fiancée, who reported that he was acting erratically inside their shared home on Pine Creek Drive. When officers arrived, no one answered the door, but officers reported hearing Wiesner and another man inside. Wiesner’s fiancée later allowed officers to enter the residence through the garage. Three officers entered the home and encountered Wiesner holding a firearm. Officers exited the residence, and Wiesner followed them outside. According to police, Wiesner continued moving toward officers in the street and did not comply with commands to drop the gun. As Wiesner approached one of the officers, an officer fired a shot, killing him at the scene. The Kane County State’s Attorney later ruled the shooting justified, and no officers were charged.
