On 08/11/2021, law enforcement officers conducting surveillance on a man wanted in multiple Colorado counties observed Bruce Allen Thurby at a car dealership near North Pecos Street in the Denver area. According to reporting, officers believed Thurby was attempting to steal a vehicle. Officers confronted him, and he moved behind the dealership. Police pursued and confronted him again. Officers reported that Thurby pointed a firearm toward them during the encounter. At least one officer fired, killing Thurby at the scene. The Adams County District Attorney later reviewed the case and cleared the officers of criminal wrongdoing.
