OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/01/2021, deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Connor Riley McDaniel in a rural, unincorporated area near Gollihar Court in Peyton, Colorado. Police stated McDaniel was suicidal and that deputies encountered him in an open field before he moved into a wooded area overlooking their position. Police stated deputies spoke with him by phone for several hours. Police alleged that during the standoff, McDaniel fired a weapon at least once toward deputies. Police stated three deputies opened fire and killed him.
