On 09/09/2021, law enforcement agencies began searching for David Ray Williams following a trailer fire in Diggins, Missouri. Police stated Williams was possibly connected to the fire. Police stated he was later seen south of the village and that officers chased him on foot through a rural area for several miles. Police alleged that during the search, a barn was set on fire and that Williams was later located in a tree stand holding a rifle. Police stated an officer fired a single shot from a distance and shot and killed Williams while he was in the tree stand.
