On 09/15/2021, officers attempted to take a man into custody near 24th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix, Arizona. Police stated Kenzie Keyes was with the man at the time officers approached. Police alleged both individuals moved away from officers and that the man sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police alleged Keyes then picked up the firearm and pointed it toward officers. Officers opened fire and shot and killed Keyes at the scene.
