OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/18/2021, Smyrna police responded to reports of a man with a gun making suicidal remarks at an apartment complex near N Lincoln Trace Avenue. Police stated officers tried to talk with Thurmond for several minutes. Police stated he raised a gun toward officers and an officer opened fire, striking him. He was taken to a hospital and died. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated.
