On 10/04/2021, Chicago police responded to a domestic disturbance after Michael A. Craig called for help reporting that his wife had a knife. Police shot and killed Craig during the response. Craig was identified by family and attorneys as the domestic violence victim. His family later filed a civil lawsuit, and the City of Chicago approved a settlement totaling approximately 8.75 million dollars.
