Southern Pines PD responded to the 100 block of Canterbury Road at 10:49 a.m. Saturday "for a report of an emotionally distressed individual" who fled when EMTs and police tried to forcibly take him in. Police escalated a foot chase and Philip Jordan Hause landed in a lake and drowned while trying to escape the police chase after him. He had reportedly been severely distressed and being forcefully chased caused him to flee and drown.
