On 10/08/2021, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Rancho Cucamonga after receiving reports of a man experiencing a mental health crisis who was believed to have access to firearms and posed a danger to others in the home. Deputies contacted the man’s mother, who told them her son was inside the residence and armed. Deputies attempted to communicate with Isaac Soria by phone and text message, but he refused to surrender and made threats toward law enforcement. After an extended standoff lasting several hours, Soria exited the residence while armed. Deputies opened fire and fatally shot him at the scene. The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office later reviewed the case and cleared the deputies of criminal wrongdoing.
