OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 10/13/2021, deputies from multiple Idaho sheriff’s offices encountered Buddy Byron McKenzie in the McCammon area while attempting to locate him in connection with a prior shooting reported earlier in the month. A deputy observed McKenzie inside a pickup truck and attempted to make contact. McKenzie continued driving and police chased the vehicle through the area. During the pursuit, deputies reported that gunfire occurred involving McKenzie. The pursuit later ended near the interchange of U.S. Highway 30 and Interstate 15. Deputies opened fire and shot McKenzie, killing him at the scene. The incident was referred for external investigation.
