Per the only eyewitness’s report, an unnamed Fulton County deputy, the deputy had just gotten off work, was in his uniform when his Ring camera alert went off and showed a man near his home. The man allegedly walked into the woods when the deputy arrived. The deputy stated that he got into an “altercation” with the man and shot him dead. Police did not allege that Bobby Lee Sutton had been armed or threatening when killed. The officer’s name and other key information was withheld. A Lafayette PD officer tried to stop a car they felt may be stolen. Police allege the driver pulled into a parking lot and fled on foot. Police and a K9 chased him until he jumped from a structure and fell to the ground. Officers attempted to taser him and tasered the K9 dog instead with the dog backing away, apparently unwilling to attack after being shocked. Police allege the man they had hunted down produced a gun and shot him to death. His mother, Tonya Coates, demanded transparency from law enforcement in her son Tyron Coates's death and demanded evidence of a gun. Police stated there had been a gun but did not provide bodycam or other evidence.

William "Billy" Atkins had a mental health disorder, appeared to be in a delusional state but was very upbeat according to his mother. Fort Knox PD responded to a call of a suspicious person near the post's visitor center. It is unknown how they approached him but Atkins fled from police onto the Fort Knox military base while being chased by 3 patrol cars. A standoff ensued and Atkins allegedly tried to escape the situation, “attempted to ram” police cars and was shot dead.
