OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 10/28/2021, Colorado Springs police responded to reports of a man firing a gun into a vehicle in the area of South Wahsatch Avenue. Officers later located Ahmad Akeem Abdul Muhammad on foot. Police stated that during the encounter Muhammad raised a firearm in the direction of officers. Officers opened fire, and Muhammad continued moving away from police. Officers located him again a short distance later. Police reported that Muhammad again raised a firearm toward them, and officers opened fire a second time, killing him. The El Paso County District Attorney reviewed the shooting and ruled the officers’ actions justified.
