OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Avondale PD claim that Amarion Hope was shoplifting at a dollar store and tried to arrest him. He resisted, struggled with police and as he broke free from them, police shot and killed him. Police allege that he pulled a knife on them but nothing of the sort was seen on the video they provided. Police separately showed pictures of a simple kitchen knife, claiming it had been on his person. The video shows the police’s main points but it is not visible where he was a lethal risk to police during apprehension that required shooting.
