On 12/20/2021, Ontario Police responded to reports of yelling and a possible injured person inside a hotel room on North Vineyard Avenue. An officer entered and encountered Casey James Cashen inside the room while he held a knife and restrained a woman by the neck. Officers attempted communication and intervention. Police reported Cashen stabbed the woman during the confrontation. An officer opened fire and struck him. He died inside the hotel room.
