OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 11/30/2021, Clayton County Police Department officers responded to a domestic violence call at 3600 Jervis Court and located two people who had been shot. Officers proceeded to the residence identified by witnesses and confronted Arthur Allen Gilliam inside while he was holding a firearm. Gunfire occurred during the confrontation and an officer was fatally shot. Gilliam moved back into the residence and later emerged again while holding the weapon. Officers fired their weapons and struck him, and he died at the scene. The incident prompted a large multi agency response and subsequent state level investigative review due to the officer death and multiple civilian casualties tied to the event.
