OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 11/11/2021, Springfield Police Department officers responded to a disturbance call near 3055 S. Glenstone Ave. after reports that Seth S. Rynio had left a nearby restaurant while intoxicated and causing disruption. A park ranger encountered him near the Barnes and Noble parking area and gunfire occurred during that contact, leaving the ranger wounded. Officers nearby moved toward the location after hearing the shots and fired their weapons during the encounter, striking Rynio. He died at the scene. Investigators later reviewed body camera and witness evidence as part of the case review and no criminal charges were filed.
