OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/05/2021, Westminster Police Department officers responded to a crash in the 10300 block of Wadsworth Parkway and located a vehicle involved in the incident. An officer approached a man walking in a roadside ditch believed connected to the crash and attempted contact. Gunfire occurred and the officer shot the man before losing sight of him. Officers searched the area and later located him injured nearby, and he was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Reporting indicated the vehicle had been taken earlier during an armed carjacking and nearby school activities were disrupted while officers secured the area.
