On 12/02/2021, West Valley City Police Department officers searched for Anei Gabriel Joker in connection with an earlier investigation and located him inside a parked vehicle at 4100 S. Redwood Road with an infant present. Officers surrounded the vehicle and conducted extended negotiations that resulted in the infant being released safely while Joker remained inside. After the standoff, Joker exited the vehicle while holding a firearm and gunfire occurred. Officers fired their weapons and struck him, and he died at the scene.
