On 12/01/2021, Wilcox County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Shamburger Road in Yellow Bluff. Billy Gilbert Bizzell, 52, went to the home of a woman connected to him and had a gun. When deputies arrived, gunfire was exchanged. Deputies opened fire and shot Bizzell. He died from gunshot wounds. Retired Wilcox County Deputy Glenn Hutto, 65, who was at the residence during the incident, was also shot and later died from his injuries. A responding deputy was injured during the exchange. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency conducted the investigation.
