On 11/05/2021, Metropolitan Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1600 block of Rosedale Street NE after Tommie Lynn Dunmire shot a woman during a targeted confrontation and then drove away. Police located her vehicle shortly afterward and attempted to stop it as part of the investigation. During the police response, Dunmire shot herself inside the vehicle and was taken to a hospital where she later died from the gunshot wound. Reporting indicates the incident stemmed from a planned retaliation connected to an ongoing dispute and resulted in federal prosecution of an associate involved in arranging the attack.
