On February 22, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. Highway 84 near Cut-Off Road in Coushatta, Louisiana. The incident involved a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Deputy Asia Pikes of the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office, and a 2022 Nissan Rogue, driven by 70-year-old Ella Winn of Coushatta. Deputy Pikes was responding to a call with emergency lights and sirens activated, traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 84. Simultaneously, Winn was traveling eastbound and, for reasons still under investigation, made a left turn, resulting in a collision with the Tahoe. Winn, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Pikes sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation by the Louisiana State Police.

On February 22, 2025, at approximately 1:28 p.m., officers from the Pembroke Pines Police Department responded to a call regarding a trespassing individual in the 20200 block of Pembroke Road, an undeveloped marsh area known to be inhabited by wildlife. Upon arrival, officers observed 25-year-old Sebastian Smoye Noisy, a resident of Doral, Florida, walking shoeless through the marsh and exhibiting unusual behavior. Officers attempted to engage with Noisy, however, he became agitated and uncooperative. Officer deployed a chemical agent (pepper spray and a taser. Due to the inaccessible terrain, a police officer transported Noisy to a nearby ambulance, and he was then taken to a local hospital by Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue. Approximately three hours later, Noisy was pronounced dead. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation into the incident, as per standard protocol.
