On February 22, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. Highway 84 near Cut-Off Road in Coushatta, Louisiana. The incident involved a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Deputy Asia Pikes of the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Office, and a 2022 Nissan Rogue, driven by 70-year-old Ella Winn of Coushatta. Deputy Pikes was responding to a call with emergency lights and sirens activated, traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 84. Simultaneously, Winn was traveling eastbound and, for reasons still under investigation, made a left turn, resulting in a collision with the Tahoe. Winn, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Pikes sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation by the Louisiana State Police.

Officers attempted to engage with Noisy, however, he became agitated and uncooperative. Officer deployed a chemical agent (pepper spray and a taser. Due to the inaccessible terrain, a police officer transported Noisy to a nearby ambulance, and he was then taken to a local hospital by Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue. Approximately three hours later, Noisy was pronounced dead. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an investigation into the incident, as per standard protocol.

Barstow Police officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex. A neighboring resident reported bullets penetrating their apartment. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect’s door open and entered for a safety check. They encountered the suspect in a bedroom holding a handgun. Officers issued multiple commands for him to drop the weapon, but he did not comply. A Taser was deployed, causing him to drop the weapon. He was taken into custody and showed no visible injuries but became unresponsive shortly after. He was transported to a local hospital, where he went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m.

On February 16, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., police responded to an incident near Applebee’s on Lakeland Drive in Flowood, Mississippi. Upon arrival, police encountered a man. During the encounter, the officer was shot, and police opened fire, killing the man.
Authorities have not disclosed what led up to the gunfire, why the officer approached the man, or if the man was armed. The officer’s current condition has not been detailed. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the shooting.

On February 15, 2025, a male driver was killed in a fiery crash following a police pursuit in Calera, Alabama. The incident began when Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) troopers attempted to stop the driver for a traffic violation near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Alabama 70. The driver did not stop, and officers escalated a chase during which, the driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a utility pole, and the car caught fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is under investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
