On 09/02/2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Monroe County deputies attempted to stop a U-Haul seen loading stolen goods at a Walgreens in Brockport. Officers escalated a chase that continued into Orleans County. The U-Haul drove onto a canal path and plunged into the Erie Canal near Sans Souci Park. The driver swam to shore and was apprehended using a drone and K9 units. A passenger struggled in the water and disappeared underwater. Dive teams later recovered the body. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Orleans County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.

On September 2, 2025, around 5:15 p.m., West Jordan police responded to a domestic disturbance at a home near 1900 West and 7300 South. A shelter-in-place order was issued for the surrounding area. Negotiators attempted contact with 26-year-old Elhelbawy Adam Idrees, but communication broke off. Later that evening, officers obtained a warrant and entered the home with a SWAT team. Nine officers, eight from West Jordan and one from Utah Highway Patrol, discharged their weapons during the entry, and Idrees was killed. The case remains under investigation.

On 09/01/2025, Capitol Police in Jackson reported that a driver died following a chase that ended in a crash at the intersection of Northside Drive and Edwards Avenue. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A SWAT team was called after an hours-long standoff developed. When officers entered the home, the individual was found dead. On 08/31/2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Phoenix police officers attempted to stop a man riding a bicycle near 20th Street and Southern Avenue. The man fled on foot into Hermoso Park. Officers pursued and reported that he was armed with a fixed-blade knife and resisted arrest. During the struggle, an officer opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

On 08/30/2025, Aurora Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on Rajon Belt-Stubblefield, 34. Police forced him into a crash near 6th Avenue and Billings Street, then confronted him after the collision. Rajon exited the vehicle, discarded a handgun into the grass, and was unarmed when police bore down on him. Within 85 seconds of the first command, officers escalated the encounter, struck him in the head after his back was turned, and then opened fire. Police shot him twice in the chest and delivered a final shot to the head, killing him on the ground.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, representing the family, denounced the killing as an “execution” and “murder,” saying deadly force was unnecessary and that Rajon was already injured from the crash. The family insists police could have used less-lethal options and argues the bodycam video shows Rajon did not pose an imminent threat when he was shot. Advocates point to Aurora’s long record of violence against Black men, including the case of Elijah McClain, and say this shooting continues a pattern of racially biased policing. The family is demanding criminal charges against the officer, release of his disciplinary history, and full transparency from Aurora officials, rejecting the department’s narrative as an attempt to justify what they call an unjust killing.

Nathan Alexander Orozco stopped at a gas station off Belt Line Road. When an officer arrived, the woman exited the vehicle. Police reported that the man refused commands to show his hands and reached back into the vehicle. An officer opened fire, striking him. A loaded handgun was recovered from the area where he was reaching. He was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. The Dallas County Officer-Involved Shooting Team is investigating.
