On 01/09/2022, Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a welfare check at 477 E Honeysuckle Avenue in Hayden. Deputies encountered 37-year-old Garrett M. Stevenson inside the residence. Deputies fired their weapons during the encounter, striking and killing Stevenson at the scene. Idaho State Police conducted the independent investigation into the deputies’ use of deadly force.
