OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/12/2022, Minnesota State Patrol troopers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 55 near Eden Valley in Meeker County. During the stop, troopers encountered 38-year-old Stephen C. Poissant and an altercation followed on the roadside. Troopers discharged their firearms, striking and killing Poissant at the location. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assumed responsibility for investigating the trooper-involved shooting.
