On 03/15/2022, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to reports of a man firing a gun at vehicles near 19011 Pacific Avenue South in Spanaway. Deputies located Jeremy Dayton in the area. According to deputies, Dayton was holding a firearm and moved toward responding deputies while armed. Deputies opened fire and shot him. Dayton was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Pierce County Force Investigation Team assumed control of the investigation into the shooting.
