OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/18/2022, Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to stop Billy Mitchell near TX-152 and Ranch Road 2171 in Borger. Deputies initiated the stop and contacted Mitchell. According to deputies, Mitchell exited his vehicle holding a firearm. Deputies opened fire and shot him. Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene. The Texas Rangers assumed responsibility for investigating the shooting.
