On 03/29/2022, West Virginia State Police responded to investigate assault allegations involving Charles Pitzer in Summers County near Hinton. Troopers attempted contact at a residence. Pitzer left the area on an ATV and entered a wooded area as troopers searched for him. During the search operation, troopers located Pitzer deceased from a self inflicted gunshot wound.
