OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 04/01/2022, White Oak Police Department officers attempted to stop Jared Scott Sobey near East Old Highway 80. Police reported Sobey did not stop and continued driving. Officers pursued the vehicle and brought it to a stop near a residence. During the encounter, police stated Sobey displayed a firearm. Officers opened fire and shot him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Texas Rangers conducted the investigation into the shooting.
