OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 04/05/2022, Gibson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of an armed man near East Base Road and County Road 850 outside Fort Branch. Deputies located Troy M. Lewis in a rural area and ordered him to drop a firearm. Police reported Lewis raised the weapon during the encounter. Deputies opened fire and shot him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Indiana State Police conducted the investigation into the shooting.
