OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 12/31/2021, Meridian Police responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence in the 1500 block of 21st Street in Meridian. Officers arrived and encountered a man covered in blood who was holding firearms. Police reported that the man fired at officers. Officers opened fire inside the residence. During the exchange, officers shot and killed the man and also shot and killed an adult female inside the home. Reporting indicates the female was not the person firing at officers. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation took control of the case. Officers were placed on administrative leave pending review.
