OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 04/28/2022, Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the 12000 block of Waterfront Road in Tallahassee after receiving reports of a suicidal individual. Deputies established a perimeter around the residence and initiated negotiations. The situation escalated into a prolonged standoff. Deputies deployed additional resources including specialized units and continued attempts to communicate with Terri Bennett. During the standoff, Bennett shot herself. Deputies then entered the residence and confirmed her death. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted the independent review.
