OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/09/2022, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies and U.S. Marshals located a Cadillac linked to escaped detainee Casey White at a car wash near US-41 and IN-57 after an 11-day multi-state manhunt. Deputies initiated a pursuit through Evansville and used a precision intervention technique that forced the vehicle into a ditch and caused it to roll. As officers surrounded the vehicle, Vicky White, 56, a former Lauderdale County assistant director of corrections with 17 years of service, shot herself in the driver’s seat. Officers removed her and transported her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The pursuit and crash were recorded on body camera.
