On 06/01/2022, Jackson Police Department officers responded to Crocker Street after receiving a report of an armed man. Officers located Glenn Pettway, 30. Police stated Pettway was holding a handgun during the encounter. Officers opened fire and shot him. He died at the scene. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation responded and began an independent review of the shooting, as required under Tennessee protocol for officer-involved shootings.
