On 06/12/2022, Griffin Police Department officers responded to a call regarding a man with a firearm at 1735 Zebulon Road. Officers identified Demonte Terrell Davis, 27. Police stated Davis was holding a handgun during the encounter. Officers opened fire and shot him. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation responded and assumed control of the independent investigation into the shooting, as is standard protocol in officer-involved deaths in Georgia.
