OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/16/2022, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department officers assisted the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office with an effort to take Calvin Courter into custody at a home near Annex Avenue and Robertson Avenue in the Nations area of Nashville. Police said Courter had outstanding warrants from Wilson County tied to a domestic related aggravated kidnapping and assault case. Officers surrounded the home and repeatedly ordered him to come out. MNPD special response team officers later entered the home and found Courter dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. Police said no officers fired their weapons. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation opened the investigation into the death. Public reporting reviewed for this update did not identify Courter’s race and did not show a publicly filed civil lawsuit tied to this incident.
