OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 06/28/2022, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence incident at a residence in East Palatka after a woman reported she had been held against her will, restrained, and beaten by her ex-husband before escaping. Deputies obtained a search warrant and the PCSO SWAT team attempted announcements outside the home but received no response. Upon entry, deputies located the man inside and found him dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Sheriff’s Office described the death as an apparent suicide during the confrontation.
