OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/05/2022, Albuquerque Police Department officers responded to a report of a man camping overnight in a van in the Target parking lot at 11120 Lomas Blvd NE after the store closed. Officers contacted 64-year-old James Kevin Langlois. Police reported Langlois displayed a handgun and retreated into the van. Officers stated they heard a gunshot from inside the vehicle and at least one officer fired toward the van. APD later announced the Office of the Medical Investigator determined Langlois died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and that officer gunfire did not strike him. The shooting was reviewed through the Multi-Agency Task Force process and standard internal review procedures.
