On 07/27/2022, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies went to 12 Camino Oro Drive in Tijeras to serve a warrant. According to the New Mexico State Police, which investigated the incident, deputies encountered Saul “Tony” Lujan during the operation. Deputies opened fire during the encounter, striking Lujan. He died at the location. New Mexico State Police conducted the independent investigation into the shooting.
