OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

In August 2022, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Orlando, Florida released body-camera video showing a deputy fatally shooting an armed man outside the Heritage Hotel. Deputies had responded on August 6, 2022 to reports of a double shooting. One man had already been shot and was on the ground when deputies arrived. While officers were rendering aid, they encountered another man identified as Bryan Richardson, 28, who was holding a handgun. Deputies ordered him to drop the weapon. When he did not comply, a deputy fired and struck him. Richardson later died. His brother, Dylan Jimenez, 21, who had been shot earlier in the incident, also died from his injuries. The deputy was placed on paid administrative leave pending investigation, which is standard procedure.
