On August 17, 2022, officers from the Norcross Police Department responded to a call at a QuickTrip on Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross, Georgia. When officers arrived, they encountered a man armed with a weapon. The man fled on foot from law enforcement into an area near Indian Trail Lilburn Road. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the man then shot himself in front of Norcross police officers during the pursuit. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to investigate the death as it occurred in a law enforcement context.
