OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/18/2022, Doña Ana County deputies responded to the 6000 block of Vista del Oro in the Picacho Hills area after receiving a call reporting an injured woman inside the residence. Deputies entered the home and found a woman deceased from gunshot wounds. An 80-year-old male resident, later identified as Robert Yacone, was inside the home with a firearm. Deputies exchanged gunfire with him. Yacone was struck and transported to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities stated the incident stemmed from a long-standing domestic dispute between the residents. The woman’s name was released separately in later reporting.
