OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 09/22/2022, deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, along with U.S. Marshals, were serving a murder warrant on Hidden Ridge Lane in Cordova when a barricade situation developed. Officers heard a gunshot from inside the residence and evacuated nearby homes while SWAT and negotiators responded. Around 4 a.m., responders entered the home and found 36-year-old Joe Wilhite dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities stated Wilhite was the suspect being sought for an earlier fatal shooting in the area.
