On 09/22/2022, Springfield police were searching for 40-year-old Robert S. Parmley Jr., who was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 52-year-old Charles Tart the previous day. Officers located Parmley at a residence in the East Walnut Lawn Street area. During contact, a barricade situation developed. Officers later entered the residence and found Parmley deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police stated he died by suicide. The investigation into the homicide and subsequent death was handled by the Springfield Police Department.
