OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 11/02/2022 at about 11:40 a.m., Dallas Police Department officers responded to a 911 call from Diana Evelyn Ruan, who reported that she had shot a man inside a motel room and was going to shoot herself. Officers who arrived learned both Ruan and the male victim were inside the room. Patrol officers requested SWAT for a barricaded person call. As SWAT attempted to negotiate and prepare for emergency entry, they heard gunshots from inside the room. Officers made entry after forcing the door open and found Ruan deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The male victim was located inside the bathroom with gunshot wounds and taken to a local hospital in critical condition. No officers discharged their weapons. The Dallas Police Special Investigations Unit and Dallas County District Attorney’s Office were notified to conduct further review.
