On 11/30/2022, Lowellville police responded to reports of gunshots at a residence on the 300 block of Watson Street. Officers found two victims — 55-year-old Deborah Pratt-Hudak and her 25-year-old daughter, Cathryn Hudak — both suffering from gunshot wounds; both women were pronounced dead. Investigators identified 38-year-old Jonathan D. Crago of Girard as the suspect and issued aggravated murder warrants for him. Law enforcement agencies including the Mahoning County Homicide Task Force and area police departments located Crago later that evening in Parma, Ohio. During a vehicle pursuit and subsequent standoff, Crago fatally shot himself inside a vehicle while officers closed in on him. His death occurred as law enforcement was actively attempting to arrest him on the homicide warrants.
